The history of Davao is brief, but interesting. Among the historical tourist attractions in Davao City is the Japanese Cemetery in Brgy. Mintal. This cemetery was where the Japanese settlers during the early to mid 1900′s were buried. The site is the pilgrimage place for large groups of Japanese war veterans, widows and kins during the annual Reunion for Peace Program.

The Memorial Shrine is dedicated to the brotherhood of all men, regardless of race, creed or ideology. It decries the futility of war as a means of settling international dispute.

The Japanese Cemetery is located at Tacunan, Brgy. Mintal Davao City. About 12 kilometers from Davao City, cradles a shrine for the veterans of war—the Japanese Peace Memorial Shrine/Cemetery.
