Davao City was ranked fourth as the safest place in the world by numbeo.com. Davao City is the only metropolis in the Philippines that made it to the top 10.

Numbeo is the world’s largest database of user contributed data about cities and countries worldwide. Numbeo provides current and timely information on world living conditions including cost of living, housing indicators, health care, traffic, crime and pollution.

As I visited the site, I compared two cities, Davao City in the Philippines, and New York in USA. I found out that the crime index of Davao is much lower than New York.

Safety walking during daylight, Davao City got 90.62 higher than New York which only shows 79.76 percent. While in safety walking alone during night, Davao City got the higher points of 82.99 and New York only got 54.27.

It shows that Davao City is safer than New York City, despite the fact that Davao is under the Mindanao Region that most foreigners, like in the states, are hesitatant to come. Despite this still there are foreigners who chose to marry a dabawenya. These people are willing to migrate here because of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's program which is to make this place a safest city to live.

I admire how the local government, led my Mayor Duterte, handle the peace and order situation in this city. He already gained his effort by driving a taxi at night to monitor the situation of different location in Davao City. He is very fair when it comes to justice. He will listen the opinion of different groups like New Peoples Army and Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

In my opinion, a city's orderliness and peacefulness is not measured on its wealth and modern facilities, nor to its influence and power, but on the government official's political will in imposing the law so that the citizens will obey them.
