Christmas in Davao City is brighter because the decorative lights around the city hall are already on. Mayor Rodrigo Duterte together with his family formally initiated the lighting ceremony. Dabawenyos were delighted to see the unique decorations placed in different spot.

To add up with the city’s Christmas celebration, the yearly Pasko Fiesta sa Davao is launched once more. There are different competitions happening in this celebration. The community is taking its part in this event because different barangays are participating in parol making, choral competition, singing contest and other events.

For more than 10 years, Davao City has been celebrating Christmas and new year without firecrackers. An ordinance imposed by Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to celebrate the yuletide season with no casualties caused by firecrackers and many dabawenyos are abiding the law. Because of this, many LGU in the country are adopting the ordinance to minimize or totally eradicate casualties every year.

The city government of Davao has its way to make the Christmas in the city more joyful  and colourful.
